So many news items would serve the public better if they limited their coverage to simply putting up a picture of Trump below the headline: "Trump speaks nonsense again". Instead everyone seems to have an irresistible compulsion to earnestly talk about Trump's talking points as if there's actually something there to talk about earnestly.

When it's nonsense from the Nazi playbook people might think it's something that shouldn't be ignored.

I think Michael Moore is saying–well, he literally is saying that he talks to a bunch of insiders, and the conventional wisdom among them is that Trump is going to lose. And he is further saying that they have access to data that others do not.

I think it’s an interesting data point at least.

When I said I think he’s basically right, I meant that his overall description of how Harris will win and the scale of her win matches my own imagining of things at this point.

Though I can see the wisdom in not giving supererogatory weight to the man's fetid maundering, the maundering itself is becoming more telling. I think an accurate description of this quote from a speech on October 10 could be 'free dissociation.' The gears are turning but they're not meshing in a way that results in coherent communication. There's only a diaphanous relation to reality.
