When I was training in the classroom a veteran teacher often complained that today’s scatterbrained kids were largely the result of poor diets. I thought she was something of a conspiracy nut. But, in the US at least, there’s probably some truth to it.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 8:08 amThey'll never learn if you feed the little blighters!

Re: Republicans: continued
link has more linksRepublicans are running away from Project 2025. let’s make the bastards own it
so all this fascist fuckery is right up Donny Convict’s alley — especially the part where he gets to be king for life. so why is he suddenly backing away from the whole enchilada?
well, it’s finally dawning on Donny and his henchmen that the whole Project 2025 agenda is toxic as fuck.
the American people don’t want any of the shit they’re peddling. they like having clean air and water. they like knowing their hamburgers have been inspected by the FDA, and their their pharmaceuticals won’t kill them.
and the average American sure as hell doesn’t want religious zealots policing what goes on in their bedroom.
the more Americans hear about Project 2025, the less they like it.

'Josh Hawley: "I’m Advocating Christian Nationalism"'
U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) declared Monday he is advocating for Christian nationalism, a far-right ideology that claims there is no separation of church and state in the Constitution, and promotes as a national religion Christian fundamentalism, a hardline, extremist brand of Christianity at odds with the religious beliefs of many Christians across the country. It opposes LGBTQ people and people of other faiths or of no faith, and their civil rights. It often has links to neo-Nazis, white supremacy, and dominionism, and many see Russia and Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, as its leader.
“Some will say I’m calling America a Christian nation. And so I am. Some will say I’m advocating Christian nationalism. And so I do. My question is – is there any other kind worth having?” Senator Hawley said at “NatCon 4,” the National Conservatism conference being held in Washington, D.C., this week ...

Because members of this site including myself pay perhaps too much attention to the doings of such contemptible jackanapes. On the other hand Hawley has ambitions to higher office and is likely to become more powerful in the nearish future.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 5:09 pmJosh 'Running Man' Hawley jogging into the arms jesus.

Mumbling old man saves Texas.

So, it was BIDEN who's been pushing for federal emergency relief for Texas and Texas republican officials who've been holding it up while Texas' governor is somewhere overseas instead of running his state? Meanwhile Texans are without food, water, and electricity. That about right?
Tell me again, Texas, what have Republicans actually done for you?
(Note: Before you get pissed, I live in Matt Gaetz district of Florida. A republican who's done fuck all for us, but keeps getting elected)

They can’t provide relief forever. If storms are going to be more intense going forward then maybe they should consider something more sustainable. Or, they can just write the coast off, like the insurance companies already are.
Imagine that. I guess it's only coincidental that you'd already be the perfect citizen in the ideal world you're selling.

Re: Republicans: continued
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/art ... rris-biden...unlikely scenario Harris becomes the Democratic nominee, Republicans say they have plenty of material ready to deploy against her from her years as a vice-president and her short-lived run for president against Biden in 2020. As the other half of the Biden-Harris administration, her record is tied to the president’s, Republicans argue, which means she is equally to blame for Americans’ frustration over the economy and the border.
Republicans have sought to make Harris the face of the administration’s response to record migration at the US southern border, casting her as its absentee “border tsar”. But she was never charged with overseeing US border policy; rather, she was tasked, as was Biden during his vice-presidency, with a diplomatic mission to address the root causes of migration.
“Kamala lied to us for years about Biden,” it says. Trump’s campaign also referred to the vice-president as “Low IQ Kamala” this week.
“It’s things like attacking her intelligence, attacking the tone of her voice, her laugh, the othering language,” Finney said. Those are pretty common tropes that we see used against women.”
