I really enjoyed Hamilton's Salvation trilogy. A very interesting setting, simultaneously spanning tens of thousands of years and about two and a half weeks!

I've just picked up Stephan Baxter's Manifold trilogy, which has a similar awe-inspiring scope - spanning c.1999 to the heat death of the universe. Feels rather dated in some respects now simply because even from the perspective of 1999 (when the first book was published) it misses a lot of things we take for granted in its 'near future' of 2020 - a bit like Flash Gordon jumping out Zarkov's ship brandishing a Colt 45.

Have you tried any of Bujold's works ...notably Vorkosigan saga series

Works in the series have received numerous awards and nominations, including five Hugo award wins including one for Best Series.

She's an amazing writer not just from a sci-fi standpoint and lots of humour.
Miles is a wonderful character.

Listening ...big series..9 books so far. YA for sure but still engaging and some interesting concepts.

I blame the pandemic. There are 4 cookbooks I'm leafing through for easily made low salt dishes.

Other books are piling up. I almost guarantee I'm the only person on the planet currently reading a Tom Clancy weapons book and a comic book on a Marxust/humanist book on long established academic trends I've ignored.

Wild hard sci-fi on a galactic scale...Hamilton is in class of his own.

seriously started on an anthology of short stories related to evil and cursed books. some really good stuff in there, though, paradoxically, it's the stuff that draws the most on Lovecraft and the Necronomicon lore that is weakest. (some of it outright bad, but thanks Cthulhu, it's a minority)
