Re: Classical Music.
Sounds ahead of his time. Who knows where he might have taken music had he not died before his 29th birthday.
Dario Castello makes Marc-Antoine Charpentier, who was born twelve years after Castello died, and was quite innovative himself, almost staid.

Doesn't matter how you cut it, the fagotti is a funny instrument.

Re: Classical Music.
Chopin time! A very direct and dry recording (and a creaky pedal) feels rather brash and in your face to start with, but it actually gives a rare insight into the way an complete master like Trifonov can draw so many shades and colour out of the instrument. Headphones recommended...

Re: Classical Music.
I had a CD of Mozart wind concertos. The clarinet one is the popular one, but I only like the bassoon one. It has a melody you can hum.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 9:54 amDoesn't matter how you cut it, the fagotti is a funny instrument.

Re: Classical Music.
It's the piano transcription of Stravinsky's Petruschka played by Yuja Wang.
Youtube or its parent, Google, is chucking a hissy fit, but you can listen to Rum's contribution by pasting the link ID - DD77HzhRB4 - straight into Youtube's search box. It's also the first result when I paste it in Google's search box.
PS: Well worth listening to - and watching. Talk about acrobatic fingers! Thanks, Rum.

Re: Classical Music.
I have a box of CDs I got for 30 dollars that covers lectures on the symphony from 1750 to now. Not a big fan of Haydn, but I am getting a lot of background on the Sammartinis and CPE Bach, rather unfamiliar as persons. I like these little lighthearted symphonies of about 10-15 min that resemble Vivaldi's string concertos. They don't have the endless pomp pa dum of Haydn.
