Fantasy Hero, an old supplement for the Hero System game, made, as the title implis, to play in fantasy environments... it's been an eternity that I've not checked how that system tackles magic and the likes

I'm completing the Robin Hobb RainWilds 4 volume series which expands her amazing world creation and links the other novel series. Live Ships, The Fool ( 9 books ) and others all in the same world.

Just finished Elizabeth George's The Punishment She Deserves. I've never been certain how I feel about her style of mystery, but I do enjoy her characters.

Finding something to keep my attention these days is hard. Age I guess.
The Talented Mr Ripley has though. It is so cleverly written that one ends up kind of liking him despite the fact he’s clearly a psychopath.
Plus, being written in the mid 50s you get a real snapshot of the period.

Money greens that swell and ooze, will
Scratch his chin as if to muse that
All this winning meant to lose
Though he slaved and hate his dues

Bangkok Backdoor Babes.
Not really, that's a video. A collection of short stories by Joe Hill, 20th Century Ghosts. Not bad. He writes better than his Dad.

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

The Riddle of the Sands, an Edwardian ur-spy thriller. I picked it up by chance, and upon researching it learned that it's considered one of the progenitors of the genre (along with Kipling's Kim) as well as having a marked influence on British attitudes towards Germany before the Great War. Its author, Erskine Childers, lead a very interesting life only to be executed by firing squad in Ireland for possessing a small unlicensed pistol that had been a gift from Michael Collins.

Re: What are you reading now? (Chapter 2)
I got a DK picture book (lots of text but half pictures) of US history. I only managed to read from 1770s to WWI. So now I am looking at a history of England in less than 400 pages. Ended up with the Jenkins short history. It does not have pictures, but I have all the historical atlases I need. Plus, it's a fucking island! I know roughly where it is, and what is North of it.
