Well that's England through to the final.
Semi-finals.
Do you think either Russia or Croatia are contenders?
Finals.

Your prejudice against the country you abandoned and appear to hate so much often clouds your judgement. England played excellent football today.

They dominated the whole game. They should've scored more if anything

Not according to match reports. Second rate.
If we were to be picky, a legitimate argument could be made that England will need to play with more finesse if they are to harbour serious ambitions of winning this competition. They will have to pass the ball more efficiently and maybe, in possession, show a touch more arrogance, in the manner of a side that really believes they are the elite and this is where they belong. France, for example. Or Belgium.

How very mean spirited. England got to the semis. If they get no further it will have been special for England fans. I can almost see your sneer at the thought.

I did not write the report the Guardian did.

So? It’s just one opiinion. I don’t agree with it but you jump on it because it supports your hatred of England.

Ugh, I can't help it. I think football is a bloody awful game. I've tried to avoid it. Yet I still find myself humming Three Lions. If we get to the finals I will watch it. And if we win, despite my intense reluctance to be in any way associated with English nationalism, I will be celebrating. I just want you all to know that this is not who I want to be.

I feel pretty much the same - but fuck it - enjoy the buzz while it lasts. We can go back to being grumpy lefty liberals after we've won!

True enough. Here on the edge of town - a residential area, you can hear the celebrations all around including the occasional 'ENGLAND'.

On 13 July 2016, Brazilian-born Mário Fernandes received Russian citizenship via Presidential decree from Vladimir Putin allowing him to play for the Russian national team. On 7 July 2018 he missed the goal in the penalty shoot-out resulting in Russia being knocked out of the world cup. RIP Mário Fernandes.
