Re: What are you reading now? (Chapter 2)
Nah, not gonna read Churchill. He's made out to be the hero he wasn't. Like Hitler quite a failed artist.
What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?
Re: What are you reading now? (Chapter 2)
Yet they blew up their world, and it's useful to know their thinking for when you see it again. At least Churchill writes better than Hitler.

Just finished The Beautiful Cure by Daniel Davis which, despite the woo-ish title, is actually very good. If you want to poke a stick into the moist crannies of the immune system, this is the book for you. Dendritic cells for the win.
Just started Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. There's not been a single wolf or a hall in it so far, which is why I rarely give female authors the time of day.

My local phone book. The plot is underdeveloped. In an attempt to make up for that weakness it has a cast of thousands. Not working. I don't think I'll finish reading it.

I'm actually re-reading the "Bony" books by Arthur Upfield, about a half caste detective who solves crimes in the outback using his skills at tracking...

Just finished Darwin's 'The Voyage Of The Beagle' (Gutenberg) - or as it was originally entitled: Journal of Researches into the Natural History and Geology of the countries visited during the voyage round the world of H.M.S. Beagle under the command of Captain Fitz Roy, R.N.
Fascinating, insightful, detailed, and in parts quite amusing.

Cptn Robert Fitzroy was also a fascinating character. An expert navigator and a deeply devout man, he was greatly troubled by TOS, the publication of which he said had given him "acute pain". He attended the infamous Huxley-Wilberforce debate in 1860 and during the discussion was shouted down after raising a Bible above his head and imploring the attendees to "believe God rather than man." Some say that his reaction to TOS was a significant contributory factor to his suicide in 1865.

I wish I was reading The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales. The bits of it I read in the store were really good. But, I told myself no, read this Chomsky guy instead.

Imagine that. I guess it's only coincidental that you'd already be the perfect citizen in the ideal world you're selling.

It's no coincidence that "Noam" is an anagram of "moan".
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
