Imagine that. I guess it's only coincidental that you'd already be the perfect citizen in the ideal world you're selling.

El Borak and Other Desert Adventures; Sword Woman and Other Historical Asventures.
Both collections of stories by Robert E Howard that I got for Xmas... most satisfied with those present, and I barely had to goad the friends who gifted them to me in the right direction.

Beatles 66, Steve Turner. Beatles take dope, end touring. Lennon becomes and artiste.
It was an OK book. I read another book on music etc of this era. Bands both US and UK. From the numerous errors, it was obvious that he was sloppy, trying to maximize colorful stories and worst: he was not there.
This had none of that.
I read one Pink Floyd book and the Cyd Barrett era was painful. The pre band era of the band members in a university town, Cambridge, was better. Then the end, with Waters split, was painful in a new way. Kind of like a Trump biography.

Going quite well. It's especially readable as Elvis and I were both born 1954. You got to see the big 1962 change in music. His dad was a big band singer.Tero wrote:Next:Elvis Costello, Unfaithful Music....

Elvis: It's coming along. Got to page 70. There are flashbacks to childhood, but thankfully he does not plow through his life and work in chronological order. Many songs still remain cryptic and he admits to being disorganized, on purpose, with lyrics.
Pills and Soap a protest song?

Something to do with he being a vegetarian. There is a nice two CD collection to go with the book. Covers enough of his later albums which I do not have

Re: What are you reading now? (Chapter 2)
A year ago:
The Road to Little Dribbling: Adventures of an American in Britain
Enjoy.
Bryson visits tea shops, coffee shops and various trails and gardens in England.
Visiting shops in Totnes in South Devon: "there was a little more in the way of New Age crystals and that kind of thing than I personally require. "
Then on next page: "there is a limit to how much I will pay for shampoo, even for someone who has given me children."
It's British, you see, but not in any Monty Python John Cleese ranting kind of way. Enjoy.
