It should be in the politics forum.

Be warned: this is not Mick's finest performance. In fact, he is very much an asshole in this thread.

I don't think I was an asshole. I just didn't join hands with you guys and cry along.

I outright said that bullying is wrong, that bullying itself does not build virtue, and that the blame belongs to the bully, etc. I approached that thread with a sort of Vulcan objectivity, and it was misinterpreted as callus apologetics for bullying.

I don't know if the admission of my bully behavior as a kid prompted the ridiculous treatment I received in that thread or not, but the herd was overly zealous in their depiction of me as some sort of a jerk. Indeed, there was a blatant insistence that whatever I said, I was a jerk.

What a jerky thing to say, jerk :Erasb:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

And what if you were an apologist for bullying? The worst that can be said is that you expressed unpopular opinions. There are at least four threads about your banning. Seems like a big storm in the teacup named rational skepticism, so I had a look around. I saw no trolling; just a persistent voicing of unpopular opinions. It upsets the herd of sheep. Upsetting a whole flock is equated with trolling, especially when the alpha rams feel upset as well. Trolling is such a flexible concept, isn't it?

Hacky copped a four week suspension for the way he treated you, and a couple of other members received a warning each. That way the moderators can claim to have acted evenhandedly. As far as they are concerned, they've done all the right things, and there's nothing more to discuss, so don't bother with emails. At best you'll get a reply to the effect that the decision was the right one, but more likely they'll remain unanswered. The only way for you to get posting there again without getting kicked off sooner than later is to change your ISP, email address, register under a different alias and be careful not to seem too familiar with other members of the forum at the start.

Oh, and by the way, rationalia also has a rule prohibiting trolling. To wit: "Intentional malicious trolling and use of offensive language, images or jokes, with the intention of harassing, intimidating, tormenting or persecuting another member, or in the knowledge that such posts are likely to cause widespread general offense, will not be tolerated." (My bolding) The two differences are that trolling is not perceived as such as easily as at ratskep and at worst you can expect a three month suspension. Officially nobody gets banned here, although one person actually has.

4 threads? Too bad I can't read'em.

I'm looking through the bully thread now, and for an ex-soldier and frontline worker, I must say, Weaver is whiney. Whiney Weaver. Hah.

I'm funny.

Thanks. You should tell them that, if you haven't already.

Does anyone have an understanding concerning the specifics of my ban--why they did it? Prima facie, it looks like I just offended the sensibilities of favoured members.
I'm on the fence about your ban. I'm not going to miss you but damn. This all seems a little arbitrary and too damned permanent. Think I'll go back to jimmy's poll and change my vote again.

But hell. If I do start missing you I can pop over here and have you ignore any valid points I make against your beliefs. :food:
You should change your vote. They didn't tell me to stop any sort of behavior. In the bully thread, the first time they locked it, they warned that virphen fellow, but not me. I figured that was a sign that I was inside the FUA. Next thing I know, I'm banned, without warning or justification.

If the mods asked for me to leave the bully thread alone or apologize, I would have. But they didn't.
I changed my vote to no ban. I'm amazed that jamest is getting so much shit for daring to question a ban. Metatron invited us dissenters to go elsewhere if we don't like it. He's one of the mods. I think he should go elsewhere if he doesn't like us not liking his actions. :smoke:

Anyway. banning is damned serious. It's like capital punishment and that should never happen without great cause.

I prefer an atheist forum to be FFR so the fewer the better of any stripe.
I don't like the hangover from RDF of trying to edumicate the skydaddy idjits.

I prefer all the theist shite get dumped...it's a blowfly magnet.

So I'm fine wth it.

I figure it's like someone with a gay is unatural Tshirt on walking into a gay bar.
They might get drink if they are quiet...
The regulars are likely to get a bit antsy....
A mouthy one with a Tshirt...will be escorted out.

I detest FUA shite.....i rely on the judgement of the mods - if they think it's not in the community interest / comfort to maintain a member status and that ongoing it would be disruptive....fine with me.
It''s not a democracy

The difference here Mick?
Opinions oƒ unmitgated crap will be much much blunter.

Metatron is letting his emotions get the best of him. Take a look at the bully thread and see just how invested he is in the issue, and how irrational he sounds.

He outright stated that he wouldn't even pee on a bully who was set aflame. That's a remarkably absurd statement, since we talking about children who are bullies. Yet, even if we weren't, it'd still be a remarkably callus, inhumane statement.
Add that to my admission to have been a bully in the past, and you can see my concern.

If that weren't enough, metatron despises me. I once politely asked for a debate, and he responded coldly that he would never debate someone with the likes of me. That was months and months ago.

I just scratch my head at it. How could you take the internet so seriously that you'd hate someone or wish for his death (hackenslash did this)? I don't think I hate anyone irl.

Don't fight past battles here when he's not around to respond.
Gets tiresome....that goes for the rest of the whingers.

Some of us don't like religious types Mick.
Don't be surprised with Met....you've chosen a particularly noisome meme to align with, fucking kids, the Inquisition, doesn't pay taxes....anti-science...

leaves one wondering about the sanity of adherents. :coffee:

You're here now....move on.
