Azathoth's link goes to a comment (#502) rather than the blog post. A self-confessed rapist appears to have been given absolution in the church of Pharyngula, while an unsubstantiated accusation is enough to damn Shermer.

I try to wrap my arms around it being a psychological condition or mental illness and that they need care and observation, etc. But, the fucker posting on Pharyngula is on the loose. He needs to turn himself in, or shoot himself in the head. One or the other. Because the little kids he destroys don't deserve to suffer just because he might not be able to control his condition.

The scumbag typing on that Pharyngula link sickens me.
