We got this yesterday: http://www.amazon.com/So-You-Created-Wo ... 0425245586
I've only taken a cursory glance, but can't wait to read it, it's really funny.

Reading Folklore Fights: The Nazis Humor in Occupied Norway 1940-1945
I found this pretty funny:
Norwegians were ordered to sit by a Nazi on the train if all other seats were occupied (they weren't allowed to stand), cuz it made the Nazis feel bad.

I'm reading Dance Night by Dawn Powell. It's OK but I'm kind of ready for it to be over.

I'm working out a series of stories that roughly uses characters like Nick and Nora Charles as a point of departure. So I downloaded Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man to read his vaunted dialogue. He's good at it.

annoying, the science of what bugs us
Imagine that. I guess it's only coincidental that you'd already be the perfect citizen in the ideal world you're selling.

I just gave up on White Teeth by Zadie Smith. I really hate not finishing a book but I was 70 pages in (out of 448) and bored as fuck. Anyone else read this?
Oh well, now starting Under the Net by Iris Murdoch.

Breathe by Tim Winton - had no realized this crafter of fine prose was shortlisted on the Booker TWICE!!!! Good literature - adventure and solid prose - akin to Deliverance in that regard
