He hasn’t convinced them of anything. His handlers and allies have. The spin doctors have. You’ve probably listened to more of his actual words than his supporters ever will.

Doesn't understand the Constitution? Doesn't care about the rights it enumerates? Actively opposes the existence of those rights? How about all of the above. Surely Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orban would be happy to advise him on how to handle opposition once he's back in office.

'Trump: We Should Imprison People For Criticizing Supreme Court'

During his rally in Indiana, Pennsylvania on Monday, Trump defended the Supreme Court from verbal criticisms and claimed people should be put in prison for doing so.

It should be illegal what happens.

You know, you have these guys like playing the ref, like the great Bobby Knight.

These people should be put in jail the way they talk about our judges and our justices, trying to get them to sway their vote, sway their decision.

Convinced them of what?

Trump convinced almot 50% 2016 and maybe 2024 that he brought in hundreds of billions (with tariffs) and can run the economy. Kamala "tlaks about her lawn" when seh was growing up. Maybe a reference to low income? And Biden cut the oil way down. That is why gas prices went up. And we canceled Keystone XL. (oil!).

Or maybe Kamala can't do all these great things because she is just a girl? Never mind that prosecutor stuff.

Trump is going to save the country...and ruin democracy. "But I just don't know anything about Kamala."

But many other voters have more concrete questions about Harris’s candidacy. The share who cited specific policy areas was much larger than the share who raised such questions about Trump.

Some called her too liberal. (Although some swing voters worry that Trump is an authoritarian, few describe his policy views as too conservative.)

Two of the biggest areas of concern are the high inflation and surging immigration while she has been vice president. “Economic collapse and open borders,” said a Black woman in Georgia between 45 and 64 with a bachelor’s degree. A small percentage of other voters mentioned an issue other than the economy or immigration, including Harris’s support for Israel and her liberal stance on gender issues.

Then there are those voters who say they simply don’t know enough about Harris. “She doesn’t know how she plans to run the country because she doesn’t give straight answers,” said a white woman between 45 and 64. “She has been directly asked questions and deflected,” said a Hispanic woman in the same age group. “She’s politically vague,” said an Asian man under 30.

The Harris campaign has seen similar polling results, which helps explain the economic speech that Harris gave in Pittsburgh yesterday. It contained clearer themes than many of her previous remarks on the economy. It was also decidedly moderate, as my colleague Jim Tankersley explained. “Look, I am a capitalist,” Harris said.

Until recently, Harris has often chosen to say less rather than more about her agenda. Swing voters remain eager to hear more.

Election 2024: Trump Maintains Thin Lead Over Harris

For the third consecutive week, former President Donald Trump holds a two-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the race for the White House.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the election were held today, 48% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for Trump, while 46% would vote for Harris. Three percent (3%) say they’d vote for some other candidate and two percent (2%) are undecided.
